Holiday Blend
 
The trees always looks smaller in the open air, overcast sky low and misty and serene like Saturdays. Dozens of domesticated and pampered firs, blue and green and spritely, set in rows like debutantes. Twirl each one around on its trunk, measure it against the top of someone else’s head, smell that breeze of fragrance, see the needles tremble at the motion, pick one, any one, tie it to the roof of the car, bring it on in with the damp and the dirt and the pine straw, clean it all up, laugh at the behemoth of it. Now inside smells like outside, like sap, and everywhere are lights—white and multicolored and strung across the walls, bunched up on tabletops, wrapped around the branches, an astigmatic whirl of colors pulsating, twinkling, and finally, dimming into tranquil darkness.
 
This December, Pollard’s Coffee of the Month returns with a Holiday Blend of coffees from Ethiopia and Papua New Guinea. The high-elevation brightness of Ethiopia and grounding richness of Papua New Guinea combines into a cup that is sweet without severity, delicate without mildness. The Holiday Blend is comfortable, spirited, and nostalgic, offering aromatics of florals, citrus, and soft berry fruit, and a tasting profile of black cherry, hazelnut, and fruit cake.
